Venue: CRC Plaza Theatre, Bolton Street
Information for Competitors
This competition is for spoken word verse about Australia or the Australian way of life. The poems should have good rhyme and metre.
Performances recited from memory will be well regarded over reading from notes. Previous winning poems are not permitted to be repeated. Paid performers at this Festival are not eligible to enter.
Each poet will nominate 2 poems to perform, one serious and one humorous. A brief introduction from the poet is allowed.
It is requested that poems are to be word processed (typed). A copy of each poem is to be given to the Master of Ceremonies on the night to assist the judges to make their best decision. Oral delivery of the poem is an important aspect. Copyright remains with the author.
The Jim Angel Memorial Award is presented for the Best Performance of an Original Poem. The award recipient receives a certificate, a trophy and their name on the Jim Angel Memorial Award perpetual trophy on display at Narrandera Visitor’s Centre. There will also be awards presented for the best overall performer and runner-up.
The results will be announced at end of the evening.
